About Mia :
What course are you studying and what level?
PhD in Surgery
Why did you chose that course?
The research conducted in the department of surgery is at the intersection of fundamental and translational sciences which makes the projects particularly exciting as new findings are directly integrated into medical practice.
When, where and why did you start rowing? And what do you love about the sport?
At the University of Edinburgh. I love being a member of a team and working hard together to succeed.
What was your first rowing club and coach?
Michael Hughes at Edinburgh University Boat Club.
How has rowing and being part of the Boat Race squad impacted your life?
It has both given me a community in any country that I have lived in. I have been a member of rowing clubs in three different countries and they all have provided a very supportive and tight knit community.
If you weren’t a rower, what sport do you think you’d excel at?
Long distance running.
