The decision to relocate The Gemini Boat Race to Ely for 2021 reflects the challenge of planning a high-profile amateur event around continuing COVID related restrictions as well as uncertainty of the safety of the navigation of Hammersmith Bridge. The Boat Race Company continues to work with local authorities as we plan a safe event for the local community, crews, and coaches, as well as the volunteers and contractors helping to stage the races.
