About Marton:

What is your reason for your course choice?

To study engineering

When, where and why did you start rowing? And what do you love about the sport?

I started rowing in October 2021, when my college father took me to the fresher’s boat club BBQ to try it out.

I love the constant technical challenge to try and take the perfect stroke, every stroke, while keeping the watts on. As well as the chat within/between crews and the camaraderie and trust in every single person in the crew to leave absolutely everything out on the river in those final moments of a race.

What was your first rowing club and coach?

Peterhouse Boat Club, coached by Clive Keeler

What or who was the earliest sporting inspiration you remember as a child?

Dániel Gyurta, the Hungarian swimmer

What sport did you prioritise growing up?

Swimming, and then weightlifting

What is your favourite non-academic book?

Grumpy Old Rock Star – Rick Wakeman

What is your dream job? Or what do you aspire to do once you complete your studies?

I’d like to work in R&D for hearing or other medical devices
