Each of our four squads have compiled a playlist of 20 songs that they feel reflects them as a team and gives an insight into what a session in the gym or ergo room with them sounds like. They’ve included a range of genres from pop to rock, everything in between, and even a few movie soundtracks.

Who has the best taste? Have the men or women made better choices; or do the Light Blues or Dark Blues have the edge on your training soundtrack?

OUBC Women The Oxford women have gone for an energetic vibe with a mix of contemporary pop and electronic songs…and a sprinkle of ‘Wicked: The Soundtrack’ to fuel those squad sing-alongs.

OUBC Men Leaning more into the rock genre than their women’s squad we see music from The Killers and Linkin Park but their inclusion of several Justin Bieber classics suggests a similar soft spot for karaoke in the gym.

CUBC Women With quite a bit of electronic, drum and bass, and hip hop in this playlist it certainly sounds like one to get them through a tough session on the rowing machines. That said, like their Dark Blue rivals, they have also sneaked in a movie-tune sing-along with ‘Real Gone’ from Cars.

CUBC Men Perhaps the most eclectic mix of the four playlists, the Cambridge men have everything from pop to indie to rock with features from Eminem, Phil Collins, Chappell Roan – and a particular liking for Olivia Rodrigo. They’ve also included ‘Boiling Hot Wall’ by Earl of Ely who is one of their athletes and a recent release.
