About Annie:
What course are you studying and what level?
MPhil in Arts, Creativity & Education
Why did you chose that course?
Art history has always been my passion. My bachelors degree and first masters were both in the discipline. I wanted to expand my studies to focus on being more hands on and centering it around education!
When, where and why did you start rowing? And what do you love about the sport?
It’s not a glamorous story. I began rowing because my boarding school
Made you participate in a different sport each season. I was a year round swimming (had swam my entire life and it was my world) but in the spring term, I had to do another sport. My sister had picked up rowing and became quite good so I thought I would give it a whack! Now here I am!
What was your first rowing club and coach?
Miss Porter’s School – Robin Neschke
What or who was the earliest sporting inspiration you remember as a child?
Michael Phelps
How has rowing and being part of the Boat Race squad impacted your life?
It has opened my world so much! To think that I went to school less than three hours away from my house in the states, to now being across the globe is insane. The support I’ve received from CUBC Has been incredible and I’m so lucky to be here
If you weren’t a rower, what sport do you think you’d excel at?
Triathlon
What is your favourite non-academic book?
To Kill a Mockingbird
